In doing so, you’ll be collecting resources you’ll need to build and craft new items and whatnot, so exploring is rarely for nothing. The boat you upgrade throughout the game is where the resource management part comes into play - on your boat, you’ll have to manage in an almost Tetris-like fashion, what new buildings and locations can go where, you’ll also have to tend to your crops, cook food, weave some threads, fish, talk to people, build the characters their own little place to rest among a number of other things. It's often powerfully bittersweet, which is a really interesting emotion for a game to lean into trying to evoke.
